On the previous year's tour, this company had a leading Italian singer of the day, Margherita Carosio, sharing Mimì. Here they had a promising 26 year-old soprano in Giuliana Raymondi - very well received in London and earlier on the tour. She was widely reckoned to be much better than her colleagues.
The baritone Augusto Frati made three visits to Scotland. He was a principal with this Italian troupe, but came to the Edinburgh Festival in character parts with companies from Naples and Florence, in 1963 and 1969 respectively.
Cast details are as reviewed in Opera earlier in the visit - Glasgow variants to be confirmed.
