This final night of the three week Glasgow stay in February and March saw an excellent cast in The Gondoliers, many of whom had appeared in the matinee of Yeomen of the Guard. Sir Henry Lytton was an exception, just a few months short of retirement. The Duke must have been a favourite role - he'd been singing it since 1890.
Cast from the OperaScotland copy of the day's programme.
In October the company returned for a two week stint. This time The Gondoliers was played at the first Saturday matinee, and the programme only covers that matinee, not the evening's Mikado cast.
The repertoire for those two autumn weeks, commencing Monday 23 October, was:
First week: Mon Mikado; Tue Gondoliers; Wed Iolanthe; Thu Patience; Fri Cox and Box & Pinafore; Sat mat Gondoliers; Sar eve Mikado.
Second Week: Mon Yeomen; Tue Ruddigore; Wed Princess Ida; Thu Trial & Pirates; Fri Gondoliers; Sat mat Mikado; Sat eve Yeomen.
