The 1978-79 Opera For All tour managed by Scottish Opera contained revivals of Madam Butterfly and Don Giovanni. The new staging was Don Pasquale. This had not previously been mounted in any form by Scottish Opera, though it had been staged at the 1963 Edinburgh Festival (by the San Carlo from Naples) as well as by Sadler's Wells on tour.
The tour itinerary for the autumn was as follows: 14 Oct (Rothesay), 20 Oct (Glenalmond), 26 Oct (Penrith), 28 Oct (Newton Aycliffe).
