This was an unusually long Glasgow visit, lasting a couple of months, and following directly from a rare period performing at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Cast details are from a copy of the programme in the Gardiner collection (Mitchell Library). As usual the Mascagni work preceded Pagliacci.  A programme for 23 April is archived in Edinburgh Central Library and confirms casting.
