Cav & Pag was the opening production of Dundee Operatic back in 1924, so it was an appropriate choice for the group's twenty-fifth anniversary season. In 1924 the lighter work on alternate nights had been Alfred Cellier's popular musical comedy Dorothy. The 1949 equivalent was a Viennese classic, in Lehár's Gipsy Love.
