This new group of singers, mostly recent graduates of the Conservatoire in Glasgow, were co-ordinated by musical director Max Fane to stage the first of the young Rossini's one-act farces in September 2014. Scenery was non-existent and costumes were basic - all the attention was rightly concentrated on the accomplished young performers. The tour began on 13 September with an evening down south at Englefield.
A trip to Italy followed with visits to four venues on 16, 17, 19 and 20 September. Bethany Jerem was the piano accompanist at this point.
The staging was revived early in 2015 for a single performance in Glasgow, for which a small orchestra was assembled.
This was the pattern adopted for later events, with a second of these rarely-heard works, L'inganno felice, being toured that summer with most of the same singers returning.
