The Scotsman review (1 April) said there were times when the orchestral work was perhaps a little too assertive. Apart from such moments, it was a fine performance which did credit to the conductor, Michael Mudie. The cast was largely the same as the previous year.
Carl Rosa Opera's Scottish visit in 1938 consisted of one week in Edinburgh, followed by two weeks in Glasgow.
