Performances in Scotland of Trovatore on this tour were not reviewed in the Scotsman or Glasgow Herald, and no programmes can be found. The immediate prior performance on the tour, in Newcastle on 13 March, was not reviewed either.
The cast is therefore taken from the performance in Sunderland's Empire Theatre on 20 April. the Sunderland Daily Echo reviewer calling it 'a spirited performance.'
The reviewer noted that Azucena was played in Sunderland at short notice by Ruth Abbott 'for the first time', a replacement for Gladys Parr who in consequence is listed for the Scottish performances.
Others listed in the review were Appleton Moore, Robert Sydney and Esther Martin.
As far as Scotland was concerned, the 1943 Carl Rosa season consisted of three weeks in Glasgow, followed by two in Edinburgh. Crowded houses were reported, further evidence being the Wednesday matinees.
