Cast details are taken from a short review in the Glasgow Herald (22 April). Only two performances were given in Scotland during this tour, both in Glasgow.
Of Tara Barry it was said "Not only does she possess a rich clear voice and the right appearance for the part, but she is a considerable actress. Her discovering the knife with which she kills Scarpia was beautifully done, and her agitation after the deed had a moving quality not always apparent in this scene."
"Arthus Fear's Scarpia, at first on the light side, was appropriately sinister in the second act, where he sang and acted with real feeling, and there was a good performance of Cavaradossi by John Myrrdin. Liddell Peddieson's little study of Spoletta, the police agent, was effectively repellent."
"Emanuel Yourovsky conducted the orchestra - the best this company has had for some time - with taste, giving full value to the climaxes without overloading them."
In 1949, Carl Rosa Opera toured Scotland for seven weeks, giving seven performances each week; two weeks in Edinburgh, one Aberdeen, four Glasgow. Nine different operas were performed.
