This fortnight of performances at the King's Theatre, Glasgow, constituted the final appearances in Scotland of the Carl Rosa Opera Company.

Manon Lescaut was a distinct rarity that the company had now been touring for several months.  The Glasgow Herald of Friday 21 June gives some cast information and a short review headed 'Worthy Performance':

"Puccini has poured his gift for wonderful melody and superb orchestration into his score for Manon Lescaut and the story has interest in spite of the clue to the libretto's quality contained in the programme - 'Words by various authors.'  Nevertheless it is something of a stranger to our stages and at the moment we must rely on the courageous Carl Rosa Opera for any opportunity of hearing it.

"The company's performance at the King's Theatre, Glasgow, last night was over-all a worthy one.

''The singing of the principals was strong and sure, though the Edmond (who sang pleasantly) and the chorus had difficulty in making the words intelligible.''

The playing of the orchestra under Arthur Hammond was said to be sensitive.

A programme giving cast information is archived in the National Library of Scotland.
