Sir Lennox Berkeley's delightfully frothy concoction had received its Scottish premiere in the appropriately intimate but stately surroundings of Ledlanet in 1964. Someone must have realised that it made an ideal work for students. Three of these - Patricia Hay, Moyra Paterson and Alexander Oliver - would be familiar names for many years ahead.
On this occasion it opened the evening at the Athenaeum, with the Vaughan Williams Irish tragedy Riders to the Sea as the meat in the sandwich and Puccini's Gianni Schicchi to finish.
Cast details are as reviewed in the Glasgow Herald of 28 June. No copy of the programme has yet been traced.
