The reviewer goes on to say "Maritana is a never-failing source of attraction, the familiar songs evidently always appealing. Saturday evening's performance at the Glasgow Theatre Royal was an admirable one in every respect, and Maritana went with a great swing. Miss Elizabeth Burgess in the title role, Mr Haigh Jackson as Don Caesar, Mr Frank Clarke as Don Jose and Miss Bessie Weir as Lazarillo all sang delightfully, and there were raprturous encores."
