Carlo Maria Giulini was long overdue to perform the Mozart Requiem, given all the other choral masterpieces he had given us. The solo quartet was a group of high international stature, with Edith Mathis as the token non-Brit. However she was ill, and a local performer at the outset of her career, Margaret Marshall, stood in and had a great personal success.
The concert began with Mozart's 'Linz' Symphony, in C major, K425.
