The notable features of this performance include the fact that the conductor is Gregory Batsleer, not just Chorus Director for the RSNO but also for the SCO. He therefore has plenty of experience with modern, light-weight Handel. Having a countertenor to sing the alto role fits in with that idea. Indeed a concert hall instead of a cathedral venue would also lead us to expect this.
