As with its previous performance in 1989, Dundee Choral Union managed to attract a very strong pair of soloists for this relatively familiar work.
After the interval a third soloist, the young tenor Mark Wilde, returned home to appear in a much rarer piece, the Berlioz Te Deum, which was followed by a short sequence of carols. he Berlioz, in particular, sounded spectacularly impressive with the Caird Hall organ combining with the orchestra of Scottish Opera and the two choirs.
