Can it really be more than thirty years since this glorious work was last performed at the Edinburgh Festival? That must surely mean that all the choristers must learn the old-Slavonic text from scratch. Still, it is well worth the effort, and the orchestra and soloists could hardly be more authentic,
The first half of the programme is all-Czech. It begins with Dvořák's Carnival Overture, to be followed by the Concerto for Two Pianos by Bohuslav Martinů, in which the soloists are Katia and Marielle Labèque.
