It is good to see the Senbla organisation, managed by Ollie Rosenblatt, persevering with the operatic tours directed by Ellen Kent. This season lasted from 30 January to 12 May. It included thirteen performances of La Traviata. Eleven of them are spread around England, with one in Cardiff closing the tour. There was only one solitary outing in Scotland, at the Perth Concert Hall.
There were also scheduled 29 performances of La bohème, including Edinburgh on 10 March and Glasgow on 7 April.
Madama Butterfly, with 37 performances in all, was seen in Edinburgh on 11 March and Glasgow on 6 April.
The Perth concert hall was crowded and the audience highly enthusiastic, culminating with rousing cheers for the Ukrainian anthem at the end. Several of the soloists were familiar from previous visits, though the excellent lead soprano and tenor were new.
