The Royal Italian Opera managed by Sir Augustus Harris here brought several Scottish premieres. Verdi's Falstaff included several of the original Milan cast. There were also Scottish premieres by Wagner (Mastersingers) and Massenet (La Navarraise).
It seems that on this occasion the familiar and hugely popular Cav was used to follow Pag, this being the first time they were paired.
Edinburgh performances to be confirmed.
Cast details are from the Joseph O'Mara entry in the 'Opera in Ireland' website.
