This Edinburgh Festival concert by the Schütz Choir of London under its director, Roger Norrington, paired the two hybrid stage works which were published by Monteverdi among his madrigals. The serious piece, Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda, was played first, with the comedy, Il ballo delle ingrate, second. Their other concert at the same venue was a lovely performance of Monteverdi's Vespers.
