This staging of Weill's mould-breaking opera-musical won an Olivier Award when it first appeared in 2008. This revival went on a national tour, with only three Scottish performances. It's over twenty years since the last production here of a piece which should be in the standard repertoire.
John Fulljames had a great success the year before as director of Scottish Opera's production of The Adventures of Mr Brouček, and Street Scene could hardly be more different.
