This autumn double bill followed the summer pairng of Telemann's Pimpinone and Monteverdi's Ballo delle ingrate. It worked well as a pairing, with Dido and Aeneas followed by La serva padrona after the interval dinner.
Lorna Brindley spent several seasons at Glyndebourne, singing chorus and small roles, as well as covering larger ones. At Ledlanet she previously gave memorable performances in what may have been Scottish premieres of Alcina and La clemenza di Tito.
However, in the more familiar role of Dido, Brindley made less impact.
Sheila McGrow and Brian Kemp were among the familiar singers giving excellent support.
The Ledlanet summer season included a week-long residency by Scottish Opera for All - piano-accompanied stagings of La traviata, Martha and Cinderella, as well as Ledlanet's own production of Telemann's Pimpinone coupled with Monteverdi's Ballo delle Ingrate. There was also an oratorio performance - Haydn's Creation. The Autumn schedule included another double bill - Pergolesi's Serva Padrona paired with Dido and Aeneas.
