Hamish Wilson Suggest updates

British designer and director.

Hamish Wilson spent many years with the Carl Rosa company, with a responsibility for design as well as directing the performances.

In addition to his Carl Rosa work, he was an important figure in the early years at the Glyndebourne Festival, designing amany of the sets for the pre-war performances. These were (details from the Glyndebourne Archive):

When Glyndebourne mounted a London production of The Beggar's Opera during the summer of 1940 at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket, he was responsible for lighting.

After the war, the Festival did not resume immediately, but the company performed at the early Edinburgh Festivals.  His sets were revived for Edinburgh performances of Le nozze di Figaro (1947) and Don Giovanni (1948)
