Edward Joseph Dent
Born Ribston, 16 July 1876.
Died London, 22 August 1957.
English scholar, teacher and translator.
For many decades, the performable translations he prepared for much of the standard repertoire seemed indispensable. He also wrote authoritatively on a number of operatic subjects. His book The Operas of Mozart, published in 1913, had an enormous influence.
