Jamie MacDougall has enjoyed a substantial career as a classical singer and as a performer of Scottish repertoire. In 2001 he began to work with BBC Radio Scotland as a presenter of classical music programmes, including Classics Unwrapped. He also broadcasts regularly on BBC Radio 3.
In the 1990s he followed a solo career, making a number of recordings of Handel's oratorios, perhaps most notably Judas Maccabaeus. In 2003 he got together with his friends Ivan Sharpe, Alan Beck and Michael Barnett to form Caledon. They were together for almost ten years, travelling the world, including tours of Australia, New Zealand and North America. In 2013 his solo album "Inspirations" was released.
Concert appearances at British festivals include the Three Choirs as well as the BBC Proms, Aldeburgh, St Magnus and Edinburgh. Abroad he has worked at Salzburg and Passau. He has appeared with most of the Scottish choral societies, singing major choral works including Handel (Messiah), Haydn (Creation) and Elgar (Gerontius, Apostles).
