Australian tenor.

After a brief period with the D'Oyly Carte touring company in Haddon Hall, Robert Cunningham joined Carl Rosa for several seasons. Perhaps his most prominent achievement with them, in 1897, was to sing Rodolfo in the British premiere of La Bohème in Manchester (in the composer's presence). When that company encountered short term financial difficulties, in 1899, he joined several colleagues in establishing a substitute, which toured briefly under his name. By 1905 he was singing regularly at Covent Garden.

He created the role of Porthos in The Three Musketeers by Somerville, premiered at Liverpool in 1899.
