The final revival of the Nuria Espert production, redirected for the second time by Peter Watson, was just as good as before. Richard Armstrong was always an excellent Verdian, even if Traviata was a piece he approached less frequently.

The long run, with ten performances in Glasgow and six in Edinburgh, had Claire Rutter singing Violetta for the third time, an interpretation of astonishing accomplishment. The Polish baritone Andrzej Dobber also made a highly promising impression as old Germont. David Stephenson represented emerging local talent.
