Read more about the opera Judas Maccabaeus

Until relatively recently, Judas Maccabaeus was one of the most popular of Handel's great oratorios. It was certainly performed frequently in Scotland. On this occasion, the great Nordica, whose career extended to singing the heaviest Wagnerian roles (the first American to sing at Bayreuth) while maintaining great vocal flexibility, here made a rare foray north of the central belt.
