For this performance, the Choral Union, as usual, brought the Scottish Orchestra over from Glasgow.

One of the soloists, bass Robert Radford, had already come to national prominence as an authoritative operatic performer. His range included major roles at Covent Garden, and he later worked with the Denhof and Beecham companies as well as BNOC.
