This tour took place during the era of the Covent Garden Opera Syndicate, founded in 1930 under Managing Director Lieut-Col Eustace Blois, with John Barbirolli as Music Director. However Sir Thomas Beecham was still involved, and conducted performances from time to time.

Several of these performers, along with the sets, costumes and stage director, were survivors from the days of BNOC, but the Eva of Thea Philips is entirely new..
