This Carmen marked in some ways the end of an era for Tayside, with final appearances by regular soprano and tenor leads Mary Timmons and Alan Borthwick. It also saw the departure of long-term conductor Richard Evans and the director Alan Lawson. The opera is one that frequently defeats hardened professionals, but this team brought it off quite successfully.
