The review of the Edinburgh performance (Scotsman, 4 April) stated the performance called for nothing but praise.
"Every opera given during the week has provided fresh occasion for admiration of the scrupulous attention to every aspect of a production, principals well suited to their roles, smooth ensembles, thoroughly trained choral work, orchestral support of good quality, and the whole set in appropriate and artistic environment."
Carl Rosa Opera's Scottish visit in 1938 consisted of one week in Edinburgh, followed by two weeks in Glasgow.
