The Glasgow Herald review of Wednesday, 19 June, stated that while the performance hardly made its full impact 'there was too little flexibility about the orchestral playing, and too little characterisation of a convincing nature on stage, it was not entirely lacking in notable features.'
The singing of Gilda was praised, though there were reservations about her dramatic abilities.
