Double bill with Pagliacci for four performances, Cast details are taken from a review in the Scotsman (26 February).
Of the performance it was said "Short, vigorously dramatic in subject, and with music which rises to a great pitch of emotionalism, the two works make an almost ideal operatic programme. Last night at the Lyceum a crowded house proved that their popularity remains undiminished."
"The performance of each opera called for nothing but praise. In Mascagni's opera, Miss Ida Carton made a fine Santuzza. It was a study of the character which revealed dramatic intelligence of a high order and it is seldom that an operatic artist rises to so intellectual a conception of a character. The Turiddu demonstrated to what an extent Mr William Boland has advanced as a dramatic singer."
"The Lola of Miss Lena Maitland was another very real study of a character which is too apt to become as unconvincing as Micaela in Carmen, and Mr Frank Clarke's Alfio and Miss Jean Douglas Wilson's Lucia completed an excellent cast."
The touring schedule for Scotland during the year 1918 was as follows:-
The season consisted two weeks at Edinburgh’s Royal Lyceum, then four weeks at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal. Following a break of two months or so, the company returned to Glasgow for four weeks and finally a week back at the Royal Lyceum.
