Read more about the opera Deutsches Requiem

For this performance of the Brahms favourite, the Choral Union employed two of the leading soloists on the concert circuit, as well as bringing in the SNO.

Following the choir's centenary celebrations, the word 'Amateur' had now been formally dropped from the title.

The programme for this concert was completed by the inclusion of an unusual starter, 'These Things Shall Be' by John Ireland.
