Italian conductor and teacher.
Romualdo Sapio studied in Palermo before making his debut in Milan in 1883. He conducted for Patti, Albani and Nordica in their American tours after 1888. Settling in New York (with his American wife, the soprano Clementine De Vere), he became head of the vocal department at the National Conservatory. He was assistant to Luigi Arditi on Mapleson's American tours, and spent several seasons in Britain conducting on national tours by the Moody-Manners company.
