Irish bass.
Charles Magrath spent several years touring with the Moody-Manners company. In 1914 he was a member of Thomas Quinlan's organisation, and toured to South Africa, Australia and Canada.
He had earlier spent some time working in musical comedy. He was a member of the George Edwardes company in 1898, and created the small role of Manlius when A Greek Slave opened at Daly's Theatre in June. By the autumn he had been promoted to the title role in the touring company.
A review of this in the Glasgow Herald suggests that he had previously gained experience with the (temporarily) defunct Carl Rosa company, singing under the Italianized name 'Signor Maggi'.
