Bass-baritone.
Appleton Moore served throughout the First World War in the Gordon Highlanders.
He was clearly a versatile performer and his singing career embraced a wide range of parts both for baritone and bass. He also seems to have been equally adept at interpreting comic and serious characters. He therefore sang a multitude of leading roles between the wars, working particularly with the Carl Rosa company.
On retirement from singing, he became a noted voice teacher in London, where the great baritone Peter Glossop was one of his students.
