Mike Towers is a member of the St Giles Cathedral Choir and the Edinburgh Festival Chorus and has sung as a soloist and chorister throughout Scotland, the UK and abroad. Recent operatic roles include Menelaus in Offenbach’s La Belle Helene, Aeneas in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Gherardo in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and Box in Sullivan’s Cox and Box On the concert platform he recently sang the tenor solos in Beethoven’s ‘Choral Symphony’ in St Cuthbert’s Edinburgh, Beethoven’s ‘Choral Fantasia’ in Melrose, the Verdi ‘Requiem’ in Brechin Cathedral, Handel’s ‘Messiah’ in Melrose and Pergolesi’s ‘Magnificat’ and the Saint-Saens ‘Christmas Oratorio’ in Forfar. Future engagements include Kodaly’s ‘Psalmus Hungaricus’ in Melrose, the Defendant in Sullivan’s ‘Trial by Jury’ in Edinburgh and a tour to Israel next March.
