English bass-baritone.

James Cleverton studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and on the Zurich International Opera Studio Young Artist Programme.

His operatic engagements have taken him to numerous companies including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Salzburger Festspiele, Berlin Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zurich, English National Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Glyndebourne on Tour, Opéra de Rennes, Theater Saint Gallen, Luzerner Theater, Grange Park Opera, English Touring Opera, Garsington Opera, and Opera Holland Park.

Recent and future engagements include returns to the Royal Opera House, Garsington Opera, and Opera Holland Park, the role of Chou En-Lai in John Adams's Nixon in China (for the RTE National Symphony Orchestra), Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Marcello in La bohème and various Opera Galas all at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
