The 1969 Autumn tour by Scottish Opera's Opera for All group took three shows on the road, as usual, playing alternate nights with La traviata, Don Pasquale and Martha. The last piece, a charming comedy full of attractive melody, was already a rarity in 1969, and has since almost disappeared entirely. Perhaps surprisingly, none of the three Opera for All groups had tackled the work before, and this staging was brand new, having only opened earlier in October.
The tour itinerary includes performances as follows: 23 Oct (Perth), 28 Oct (Duns), 31 Oct (Dunoon), 21 Nov (Dornoch), 27 Nov (Aberdeen). Further dates to be added.
The three operas given were Don Pasquale, Martha and Traviata.
These three works were still in repertoire when the company returned to this area for a week at Dundee's Whitehall Theatre in June 1970, while Martha continued into 1971.
