There is a short review in the Glasgow Herald (7 March) stating the performance was well presented and 'it hardly need be added that there was abundant enthusiasm from beginning to end.' Of Miss Grace Nicoll, it was said her Marguerite "had no specially new features, but it was a sound performance from every point of view. The Jewel Song was among the successes of the evening. Mr Davies was a satisfatory Faust. he has plenty of temperament, and a voice that easily reflects emotion. Last night, however, we thought his acting a trifle stiff. Mr Winckworth, a most versatile artist, filled the role of Mephistopheles with every acceptance; Miss Olga Tremelli and Mr Dillon Shallard were perfectly safe as Siebel and Valentin; and the smaller roles were in good hands. The chorus seemed somewhat weak in their war song, but the number had to be repeated. Both chorus and orchestra, however, gave finished renderings of their parts. Mr Eugene Goossens conducted."
In 1907, Carl Rosa Opera in Scotland spent two weeks at the Glasgow Grand, one at the Alexandra, Greenock and finally one at Edinburgh King’s Theatre (7.30;2pm)
