The Edinburgh Players Opera Group was launched in 2000 with a study weekend for players interested in exploring Wagner's Ring from the inside. Through to 2004 they worked their way, one drama per year. In 2005 they took a break from the Ring, tackling Tristan, before turning their attention to Parsifal then Meistersinger. As always, Sunday was devoted to a complete run-through of the work, enjoyable and fascinating. The singers are the usual mix of local amateurs as masters and chorus, young professionals trying out roles, and regular professionals.
The Edinburgh-based choir Jubilo provided voices for the crowd scenes.
