Cast details for this Trovatore are from a programme in the A M Gardiner Collection (Mitchell Library).
The Scotsman (13 April) shows some cast changes for the first Edinburgh performance.
Once again, there were no empty seats. 'Saturday night's cast called for nothing but praise. Parry Jones as Manrico, Hubert Dunkerley as the Count, Helen Ogilvie as Leonora and Gladys Parr as Azucena were all admirable in music in which all on the stage, and in their own way, probably most of the audience, were throroughly at home."
As far as Scotland was concerned, the 1942 Carl Rosa season consisted of three weeks in Glasgow, followed by two in Edinburgh. Crowded houses were reported, evidenced in part by the Wednesday matinees.
