According to the review in the Scotsman (12 April), "The singing was of the usual high standard, and the articulation, particularly in the non-singing parts, was very clear. Outstanding in a good cast was Pauline Maunder, who played the name part to perfection...The whole opera, conducted by Charles Webber, was done with delicacy and niceness of touch. A large audience was enthusiastic in its applause, and called for repeated curtains at the close."
This was part of Carl Rosa Opera's 1937 tour. (They had missed out visiting Scotland in 1936).
A conventional repertoire was presented for a week at the King's Theatre Edinburgh, followed by two weeks at the King's Theatre Glasgow.
