One of the main events of an unusually opera-rich Festival was the visit of the Teatro Regio from Turin, under their excellent conductor Gianandrea Noseda. In addition to the impressive stagings of Macbeth and La bohème, they presented a very good performance of the Verdi Requiem. The soprano and tenor were both appearing in the Puccini. However it was the mezzo and bass, big names on the international circuit, who were here for this one event.
