Cast details taken from a programme for 19 April in the OperaScotland collection and a Scotsman review (11 March).

"Last night brought a crowded audience to the King's Theatre...Last night Joseph Satariano gave fine expression to the mingled malevolence and tenderness of the jester. Its grotesque aspects were never allowed to obscure the tragedy and pathos of the character.  John Torney, who sang particulalry well, was a convincing Duke. Ruth Naylor's Gilda had also an effective dramatic quality, and the scene with her father in the third act was an excellent piece of work."

The 1944 visit to Scotland by Carl Rosa consisted of seven weeks, one in Aberdeen first, followed by two in Edinburgh.  The Rosa then spent two weeks at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle before moving to Glasgow for four weeks.

Crowded houses were reported, further evidenced by the Wednesday matinees.
