Born New York.
American translator.
In a brief description of Carl Rosa's funeral in the Norwood News of Saturday, 11 May 1889 (page 5), John Jackson is described as having provided English libretti of four operas, all by Wagner. Only one translator, William Grist, had provided five.
The four libretti already supplied by Jackson were for Rienzi, Flying Dutchman, Tannhäuser and Lohengrin. Many years later he would also translate Parsifal.
