End of year review

Since the Opera Scotland team started to promote this website in April 2011, we've continued to make steady progress in building up data.  For example, we now have 402 operas listed (up from 290 in the summer) and 313 venues listed (up from 240 in the summer).  In many cases, we have identified the date of first performance in Scotland of a particular opera, something we'll continue to do.

As we keep up to date with listings of forthcoming performances, we are also adding past presentations of main stage opera in Scotland, throwing light on our history and cultural heritage. Look at the entry on our archive page for the first foreign opera company to visit Scotland, when they gave the first Scottish performance of La Serva Padrona.

Bulding up a profile for singers is time consuming, but we are again making steady progress. Look at our note on George Snazelle, and Aynsley Cook who sang with Carl Rosa opera, many times in Scotland.
