This month the team from OperaScotland undertook their annual review, guided in part by Hannah Rudman's consultancy and in part by comments from website users and stakeholders. As a result a significant number of tweaks will be put in place in the near future, some small but all important. We welcome any feedback that will help this website improve, so if you have any points to make, please let us know.
In our efforts to address gaps and weaknesses in the archive, we paid a long-overdue visit north to Haddo House and there met Alice Dennis of HHCOS. She was not only welcoming but hugely helpful, and as a result, we have been able to upload details of many past performances there. Much though remains to be discovered, particularly of their early opera productions. Again we would welcome any comment, reminiscence or memorabilia.
Check out Beggar's Opera (1974), Carmen (1965, 1991, 1997, 2005), Cavalleria Rusticana (2007), Elisir d'amore (2011), Eugene Onegin (2009), Fledermaus (2006), Gianni Schicchi (2014), Macbeth (1969, 1998) and Martha (2004).
We fielded an enquiry about Mignon (1957) and tracked down performance details.
Finally we loaded information about Nabucco (1967); Otello (1996); Owen Wingrave (2014); Pagliacci (2007); Puritani (2001); Trojans (2014); and William Tell (1992, 2014).
All in all, a very busy month.
