Only two performances are being given of this remarkable work. The opera is drawn from the bleakly comic novel of Peter Carey. This Festival performance involves Opera Australia and the BBC Symphony Orchestra and is the European premiere. The part of Harry Joy was written with Peter Coleman-Wright in mind. The composer Brett Dean is surely one of the most innovative working today.

The production features the directorial wit and sparkle of Neil Armfield; the virtuosity of Elgar Howarth and the BBC Symphony Orchestra; and the electrifying stage presence of Peter Coleman-Wright. Don’t miss this, the last chance to see an opera at the 2010 Edinburgh Festival.
